Conversations En Plein Air - Charlotte Hodes

I collaborated with Charlotte Hodes on her project, ‘Conversations en plein air’, to create ceramic vessels inspired by her intricate large-scale papercuts. In this project, I threw large vases on the pottery wheel and supported Charlotte throughout the production process, translating her designs into three-dimensional ceramic forms. These earthenware vases were decorated using a combination of coloured slips, clay appliqué elements, and glazing techniques. The addition of enamel decals completed the collaged aesthetic, seamlessly blending Charlotte’s distinctive style with the tactile qualities of ceramics. The completed works were exhibited at the Musée Ariana in Geneva from November 2023 to May 2024. I was commissioned by Cent.ldn to craft the ceramic vessels for their bespoke candle collaboration with Zacapa Rum, celebrating the release of La Pasión – The Passion Cask. Each handcrafted candle, inspired by the rich character and fruity aroma of the rum, is a limited-edition collectible, with only 50 created for Zacapa’s VIP network. This project highlights the intersection of luxury design and fine craftsmanship, embodying Zacapa's artistry in ceramics.
